GOVI Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. (GOVI Chemicals) is a chemical manufacturer headquartered in Belgium, that develops and produces engineered chemicals for a variety of industries. In Malaysia, GOVI Chemicals manufactures and supplies water-based wax emulsions as raw materials for various production applications such as panel board, rubber gloves, paper, and construction across local and regional markets.

In its mission to develop economically competitive products, GOVI Chemicals continues to keep their profit margin low. However, external forces such as the increase in raw material costs and economic slowdown brought on by the pandemic has put continuous pressure on margins year after year. This pushed the company to find ways to lower operational costs. One of it is to lower the printing costs in their Accounting department, which relies heavily on printers to print large volume of invoices, purchase orders, payment vouchers and accounting reports daily.

Before switching to Epson EcoTank M3170 monochrome printers, GOVI Chemicals was using laser printers to handle their daily printing in the Accounting department. The need to replace toner cartridges every 1.5 month or after every 1,500 pages has contributed to overall hike in printing costs as well as mounting toner cartridge wastes.

“We have been searching for an ideal printer that can meet our high-volume printing requirements, yet economical and low in carbon footprint. High-volume, quality prints at lower costs

Epson EcoTank M3170 monochrome printers offer ultra-high page yield and paper-saving auto-duplex printing, reducing paper consumption and costs by up to 50%. “I am delighted that we can now print up to 6,000 pages with just one bottle of ink. Prior to the switch, each of our laser printers costs us RM1,800 per year on toner. With Epson EcoTank M3170 printers, we now spend only RM90 per year on the ink bottles, giving us a big savings of RM1,700 per year, per printer. Having deployed 3 units of Epson EcoTank M3170 monochrome printers in this department, we’re saving at least RM5,000 per year on printing costs,” Tan explained.

Unlike laser printers, Epson EcoTank printers are powered by Heat-Free technology which do not require pre-heating.  This simple mechanism results in faster prints, lesser downtime, and lesser power consumption. “We love how these printers are so eco-friendly and cost efficient, compared to laser printers,” added Tan. Other than speedier printing, Tan also commended on the “Add Page” function on scan mode which allows user to add missing pages after scanning.
